2021 Southern Checker Tournament
We had 13 players; however, Ken Christian withdrew before the 1st round because of sickness, he was taken to ER by EMS Friday morning. We understand he is "ok" according to his daughter who accompanied him to the tournament. This made a 6 player Master Division playing 5 rounds of Round Robin and a final tie-breaker Swiss round. This was also how the Major Division was played. GM, Alex Moiseyev won the 2021 Southern Masters, and Arthur Mays won the 2021 Southern Majors. We had a total cash prize fund of $825.00 which was a combination of $300 from Joe McDaniel, $100 from Larry Keen, $100 from NCCA, and our $325 entry fee. No funds from WC Green Trust Fund. We divided the Masters' prize fund as: 1-$250, 2-$100 3-$60, 4-$40, 5-$30, 6-$25 and the Majors' prize fund as: 1-$100, 2-$75 3-$50, 4-$30, 5-$30, 6-$25. We appreciate Jerry Askins for serving as our tournament director and score keeper. We especially appreciate those who support our game... Joe, Larry, & NCCA for contributing to the prize fund. All the player signed a "Thank You Card," for Joe. Our 2022 Tennessee State Tournament will be held at this venue on March 4th and 5th next year, so keep this date on your calendar.
